Abstract

The present invention provides a new and distinct variety of almond tree, named ‘PY1’, substantially as described and illustrated herein, that is a pollinator for existing varieties, and which produces nuts with rare doubles that are similar to existing varieties, with a crop having a fresh earthy taste, that is well suited for roasting, seasoning, oil and flavoring.

What is claimed is: 1. A new and distinct variety of almond tree, named ‘PY1’, substantially as described and illustrated herein, that is a good pollinator for ‘Monterey’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 3,483) and unpatented ‘Dallas’ varieties, and which produces nuts with rare doubles that are similar to the ‘Monterey’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 3,483) and unpatented ‘Nonpareil’ varieties in that the crop has a fresh earthy taste, and is well suited for roasting, seasoning, oil and flavoring.
